Jacob Philipak

Clarinetist

Jake Philipak is a student at UMSL majoring in Music Education and Music Performance. Jake has been playing the clarinet since 7th grade. He has studied with Jeanine York-Garasche since high school and at UMSL. Jake is the principal clarinet in the UMSL Wind Ensemble and Orchestra. In 2024 Jake won the Young Artist Competition and in 2025 received the Ladies Friday Musical Club Musical Excellence Scholarship and the Steinway Piano Gallery Scholarship. Jake has also taken on a private student and worked as a woodwind technician for the Fort Zumwalt School District. Jake recently become a member of the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra.
